The colour brown has its roots in its association with the earth and all things nature. Most of its meanings and association stem from this, so whilst there aren’t specific reasons for the associations it has, a number of them come from the same place.
It’s a colour most associated with autumn time, when the leaves begin to change from green to brown and is a colour which is thought to create feelings of wholesomeness. Maybe it’s the thought of sitting by a woodside fireplace in a nice barn or maybe it’s the thought of a nature trail with those special ones.
It’s known to represent stability and a feeling that something is down to earth! So the key themes are:
· Warmth;
· Stability;
· Durable; and
· Wholesomeness!
Fun fact: the colours to wear in autumn are the colours of a leaf – think shades of browns, greens and beiges!
